July Poem of the Month: Fresh

JV Icon Poem of the Month

Fresh

 To move
cleanly.
Needing to be
nowhere else.
Wanting nothing
from any store.
To lift something
you already had
and set it down in
a new place.
Awakened eye
seeing freshly.
What does that do to
the old blood moving through
its channels?

Journal Prompts

  • Cluster the word “fresh.” Write a synthesis when you’re done.
  • Write about a time you started fresh. To increase immediacy and impact, write in the present tense.
  • Where in your life would you like a fresh start? Imagine the view from this place. What is different?
  • What is one project, belief, behavior, attitude that you could start freshly this month?
